Assembly Item
The new assembly item in LS One adds a lot of new possibilities to your item management. The assembly item can for an example be used for
-
recipe management
-
kit items
-
gift baskets
The assembly item is a new type of an item that can contain assemblies of multiple items. The components can be of any type, retail items, variants, variant headers, service items or even other assembly items. You can have different assemblies valid in different stores and have varied pricing. The assembly item itself has no inventory but subtracts the sold inventory for all the components after sale.
Here is the assembly item Bacon burger meal sold that includes two retail items, cola and french fries and the assembly item Bacon burger.
Settings for the assembly item
The assembly item can be set to display its components or not. This can be controlled individually for the POS receipt panel, the printed receipt and the kitchen stations.
You can also set a price for the assembly or decide that the components keep their own prices. Then the components are always displayed and will show the price for each line.
Inventory management
As written above the assembly item has no own inventory but it can still be used in the inventory processes to speed up the ordering, counting and transferal of the components.
If an assembly item is added to a any inventory list such as a purchase order or stock counting journal then the assembly will be automatically expanded to its components and the quantity of the assembly item multiplied with the quantity of each of the included components.
You can do an inventory lookup in the POS and it will calculate based on the availability of each of the components how many assemblies you could make at that moment.
Inventory items
Items can be marked as "can not be sold", these items are inventory items that you can add to your list of components. An example for this is the ingredients in a recipe for which you might want to track the inventory but not sell individually. If an items is marked as "can not be sold" then it cannot be sold by item id, barcode and it is filtered out in the item search dialog in the POS, but you can add this item to the purchase order and use it all the inventory management processes.
Bill of Material from SAP Business One
In SAP Business One there are three types of bills of materials. These are
-
Production BOM: This is an inventory item in SAP Business One that is synchronized to LS One as a normal retail item.
-
Assembly BOM: This is an assembly of other items that are not displayed on the invoice and their inventory is updated after sale of the assembly BOM. The assembly BOM is also sychronized to LS One as a normal retail item.
-
Sales BOM: When a sales BOM is sold in SAP Business One the components are displayed on the invoice and the price of each component added to the invoice total.
In LS One 2020.1 we introduce the synchronization of the Sales BOM to an assembly item in LS One that has the settings to display the components on the receipt and that the price is calculated from the components.
When a sales BOM item is sold in the LS One POS and posted back to SAP Business One the invoice displays the sales BOM with all its components.
